Education
Jorge Simão was born in 1969, wrapped in the heat of Luanda, where he lived until the age of five. That warmth still lives in the way he looks through the camera, in the way he handles food, and in his connection to his knife kit.
He completed his formal photography training at IADE in Lisbon in 1990. A year later, he joined the team at Semanário Expresso, where he remained until 2013, specializing in reportage and portrait photography.
Experience
Through his lens, he has traveled the world capturing stories of life and food for Semanário Expresso, Notícias Magazine, Evasões, and Volta ao Mundo — offering what words cannot.
Today, he passes on a lifetime of knowledge to students at Restart and World Academy, where he teaches portrait, reportage, food photography, and portfolio building.
A lover of cooking and a pioneer of food photography and food styling in Portugal, he collaborates with Portuguese and international chefs at events and in workshops at his space, Simon Says Studio.
